Apple releases updates to iOS, iPadOS, macOS and watchOS

Apple releases bug fix updates iOS/iPadOS 17.1.1, macOS Sonoma 14.1.1 and watchOS 101.1.

iOS update targets NFC chip unavailability after using some car wireless chargers and weather Lock Screen widget.

watchOS addresses battery drain issue reported by some users.

macOS brings various updates. There is also update for macOS Ventura 13.6.2 to address M3 MacBooks update issues.

HomePod software is also updated to 17.1.1 to address slow Siri response.

Apple issues beta 3 for iOS 17.1, watchOS 10.1, macOS Sonoma 14.1

Next round of beta versions is available for iOS/iPadOS 17.1, watchOS 10.1, macOS Sonoma 14.1. Xcode did not get any new beta versions yet. Neither was visionOS beta updated. tvOS 17.1 remains on beta 2 too.

watchOS 10.1 beta seem to cause battery draining issue on connected iPhone.

iOS 17.1 beta 3 improves Action Button behavior while kept in the pocket. iOS 17.1 will also fix radiation levels for iPhone 12 in France (Apple also published an article explaining regulator complaints).

Another addition is support for full transaction history on first US bank – Discover (following UK banks).

Some users report Wallet app crashing in this beta.

Apple publishes iOS 16 beta 5 and other platforms

Just a little bit over a month til the release new round of beta version is published for iOS/iPadOS 16, macOS 13 Ventura, watchOS 9 and tvOS 16.

  • Now iOS 16 might show battery percentage directly in status bar.
  • This beta also disables parallax effect on Lock Screen background and adds better music player widget including mini music visualizer.
  • Screenshot menu now has "Copy and Delete" option for easier sharing without saving screenshots to Camera Roll.
  • New sounds are used in Find My app.
  • Also Apple now seems to be publishing AirPods firmware update details.

User reports some issues with recent OS updates and betas

There are couple of reports showing issues with macOS 12.2 Monterey, iOS 15.3 and watchOS 8.4.

Users report that macOS 12.2 sometimes might result in battery drain during sleep when Bluetooth connection is on.

And watchOS 8.4 with iOS 15.3 update might result in sync issues with Wallet. Some cards and passes added or removed on iPhone are not synced to Watch automatically.

Also, some reports show issues with current beta versions too. Apple warns macOS Catalina and Big Sur users with FileVault volume with possible issues trying to boot into macOS 12.3. Release notes for the beta now includes the warning.

If your Mac currently has macOS Catalina installed, installing macOS Monterey 12.3 beta or macOS Big Sur 11.6.4 beta on a volume with FileVault enabled might cause a boot loop when attempting to log back into the previous volume. (88163545)
