Users download less games now

Sensor Tower published a report on mobile gaming.

The U.S. mobile games market has faced significant challenges during the first half of 2022. Overall U.S. mobile game revenue fell by 9.6 percent Y/Y to $11.4 billion, while downloads declined by 2.5 percent to 2.4 billion. Looking at just 2Q22, revenue decreased by 11.4 percent Y/Y to $5.6 billion, though downloads were largely flat at 1.2 billion.

Google launches beta of Android games on Windows PCs

Google today is rolling out a limited beta test of its newly announced Google Play Games for PC product. The beta program is available in Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan. The Google Play Games PC application, which was announced last month during The Game Awards event, allows people to play Google Play games on Windows PCs, in addition to currently supported platforms like mobile, tablet, and ChromeOS. The new PC support will include both laptops and desktops, Google said, and players will be able to pick up from where they left off when switching from another device, like their Android phone, over to their computer.

App Store was flooded with Wordle app clones, now cleaned up, but problem persists

Multiple clones of now popular Wordle game were submitted to App Store, including those with $30 yearly subscription. None of these apps are related to original web game.

After the social network backlash Apple removed all these game clones from App Store.

However, this is not the only scam app on App Store. Another report shows that Apple even promoted scam app with purchased reviews.

So, the problem persists. On the other hand, sometimes unfair and unethical apps are still removed from App Store.

Google Play lists games ‘optimized for Pixel 6’

Android 12 introduces a Game Dashboard that’s currently exclusive to the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. Google is encouraging developers to take advantage of Game Mode API. Google Play is now listing games that are “optimized for Pixel 6” as a section at the top of the Play Store’s Games tab. As for now, Android 12 Game Mode support is the only optimization needed to be listed in the Play Store list.
