Alaska Airlines adopts Tap to Pay for in-flight purchases

Apple's Tap to Pay framework is getting support in many countries. Now one of the major US airlines adopts framework to process in-flight purchases.

Alaska Airlines is teaming with Stripe to provide support for purchases and uses Tap to Pay on iPhone to accept contactless payments.

Tap to Pay launches in France

Apple launches Tap to Pay support in France.

The banking group BPCE (Banques Populaires, Caisses d'Epargne and Payplug) and along with Adyen, myPOS, Revolut, SumUp, Viva Wallet, and Worldline now offer Tap to Pay on iPhone to French customers. They will soon be joined by BNP Paribas, Crédit Coopératif, Market Pay, Stancer and Stripe, according to Apple.

Tap to Pay launches in Brazil

Apple launches Tap to Pay in Brazil with CloudWalk’s InfinitePay integration.

Based on a report from last year, almost 40% of transactions in Brazil during the third quarter of 2022 were made through contactless payments. The country has a high rate of NFC-enabled POS (point-of-sale) terminals.

Apple brings Tap to Pay framework to Netherlands with Adyen and SumUp as first payment platforms supporting the framework. Other companies are expected to follow.

Other parties will also follow at a later date, including Rabobank, Klearly, Revolut, Stripe and myPOS.

Apple now introduces support for Tap to Pay in UK. Framework allows accepting contactless payments directly on iPhone.

Revolut and Tyl by NatWest are the first payment platforms to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone to their U.K. business customers, with Adyen, Dojo, myPOS, Stripe, SumUp, Viva Wallet, Worldline, and Zettle by PayPal coming soon. Tap to Pay on iPhone will also roll out to Apple Store locations in the U.K. in the coming weeks.

PayPal and Venmo add Apple Tap to Pay integration

PayPal and Venmo iOS apps soon to be able to accept payments directly on the phone with Tap to Pay support.

Leveraging Apple's Tap to Pay on iPhone technology, U.S. merchant customers will soon be able to accept contactless debit or credit cards and mobile wallets, including Apple Pay, using an iPhone and the PayPal or Venmo iOS app.

Second round of betas for iOS 15.4, macOS 12.3 and others

Apple releases next round of beta versions for iOS/iPadOS 15.4, macOS 12.3 Monterey, watchOS 8.5 and tvOS 15.4.

Warning

iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation) and iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation) can only update to iPadOS 15.4 beta 2 from iPadOS 15.4 beta 1.

Xcode 13.3 beta 2 is also released.

iOS 15.4 beta 2 includes "Tap to pay" framework, recently announced by Apple. Also, second beta now supports driver's license in Wallet. Also, this beta resolve issues with Siri recordings being shared even if user opted out.

macOS 12.3 beta 2 should resolve issues with bluetooth battery drain.
