NVIDIA provides cloud services for 3D content creation for Apple Vision Pro

NVIDIA unveiled Omniverse support for Apple Vision Pro content.

Announced today at NVIDIA GTC, a new software framework built on Omniverse Cloud APIs, or application programming interfaces, lets developers easily send their Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD) industrial scenes from their content creation applications to the NVIDIA Graphics Delivery Network (GDN), a global network of graphics-ready data centers that can stream advanced 3D experiences to Apple Vision Pro.

Developers will be able to utilize NVIDIA services and access content using native development frameworks such as SwiftUI and RealityKit.

Apple promotes OpenUSD format together with Pixar, Adobe, Autodesk and NVIDIA

Apple pushes for open standard for 3D models – OpenUSD. Alliance for OpenUSD is backed by Pixar, Adobe, Autodesk, NVIDIA and Apple.

The alliance seeks to standardize the 3D ecosystem by advancing the capabilities of Open Universal Scene Description (OpenUSD). By promoting greater interoperability of 3D tools and data, the alliance will enable developers and content creators to describe, compose, and simulate large-scale 3D projects and build an ever-widening range of 3D-enabled products and services.

It is expected that Apple Vision Pro development will use OpenUSD. It is expected that OpenUSD will be support by Apple development tools and modeling software.

Notably, Meta and Google are not part of the alliance so far.
